I set an email to the same place most of us got the GQ's from and I've asked if they can order this. I reminded them of the GQ thing, and let them know they may get just as many customers interested in this. (<-Said that to excite them , so they can really look into trying to get it.)

Now, we just have to wait to see what they reply.

Ok, I'm willing to help out people but since I will be doing more than 3 or 4 the guy I was talking with would need to talk to management. So once I know some more concrete info from them, I will post here saying how many people I will be able to help. I'm warning you all that I'm a poor graduate student so I won't be able to order as many GQ's that annetted was able to but I'll be able to help a few.

I just got off the phone with GLP International who is a distributor. This is where I got my GQ from. And I just ordered 2 copies of the magazine!!! Most of their copies go to fill subscriptions. I asked them if I could post their phone number and would they take other orders. She said they don't have too many extra copies, but they will sell what they have. You will need to have a credit card to order.

It's Stern - issue #9 and it's $9.00 for 1 copy.

Yes correct, its Magazine Cafe.

Because I am 100% sure WE will go thru this process over and over and over again with each new Tokio Hotel magazine, here is how it works. I used Stern as an example, however for future reference any magazine name can be inserted.

1) Stern has a German publisher since it is a German magazine. The publisher controls the "distribution" of the magazines and can sell them to distributors or retailers. This is at the discretion of the publisher.

2) In the US, GLP is the main importer of German magazines. They work with the German publishers and US retailers. Instead of selling only to retailers, they also sell direct to customers. A questionable business practice, in my opinion, but nevertheless.

3) Magazine Cafe is a retailer. They have multiple options in obtaining a German magazine. A -- They can get direct from the German publisher. B -- They can get from GLP who gets from the German publisher.

Magazine Cafe does not regularly carry ALL German magazines. When THA :fan: :freak: over a new :bk: (usually) spread and notify Magazine Cafe, they take action. If they go thru GLP, GLP calls the publisher and determines prices, quantity, and availability of a bulk order. If they know the publisher, they may go directly thru them.

I learned all this while dealing with the GQ magazine and had multiple phone calls and e-mails with Magazine Cafe, GLP (who I honestly didn't like) and even publisher (via German GQ). In fact the lady I e-mailed at German GQ is pictured in the KSquared edition of the magazine.

Hopefully this helps everybody out. Thus, this ends my class in Foreign Magazine Distribution 101. :silly:

Don't buy the Black Forrest cake at the bakery, it was not good. :no:

There's one more copy there and afterwards I saw another one at the Alpine Importer store around the corner (for slightly cheaper, dammit!!! :rotfl:) So I have two for sale, but my rates won't be quite as good as Magazine Cafe as I had to pay tax (magazine + shipping will be somewhere between $13 and $17 depending on your shipping preference). BTW, for anyone who's still dithering about ordering, this is SO WORTH IT. The scans don't do the glossy print version any justice (and you were smoked by the scans, right?).

Alpine Village is at the intersection of I110 and Torrance Blvd in Torrance (South Bay) if there's any other LA-area peoples reading this. We heartily recommend the Stollen from the market store. :D

Also, I called Above The Fold (the international newsstand on 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica) and they reckoned they were getting some in today too so run out and BUY YOURS NOW! I didn't bother to make the trek up there since I'd already got lucky but I'd be happy to go back and pick up copies if there's enough interest. Let me know ASAP - I can run out tomorrow or Monday.

Received Stern from the non-Magazine Cafe source today. Felt like I waited forever for this. Airmail took 8 business days (including SAT). Since it it too late to cancel my MC order, I now have 2.

The spread is all the way at the end of the magazine and it is MIND BLOWING!!!! Magazine Cafe sends via USPS not UPS so no tracking number. Those cost extra. What's werid is most people who I sent the GQ to got it in 4 days via USPS Priority Mail? I will be interested to see the postmark date once I get mine.

If I remember when I ordered GQ from MAgazine Cafe my shipping was 6-10 days. It took 9 days to get to me.

We just got a reply back from the postal office that some of our shipments have been delayed due to some processing issues in there facility. Please dont worry your package is on its way. We apologize for the delay on their behalf.

My Stern came the week I was in Italy. I asked my husband on what day and he said in the middle of the week. It took 2 and 1/2 weeks from the shipping notification day. Way too long in my opinion for what I paid in shipping fees.
